How winners are picked
Every submission is first scored against a public rubric to confirm it is a genuine, complete SOP. Entries that qualify go into a random draw, and three codes are pulled at random to decide the winners. Winners are notified by email at the address used to submit. The screening is done by Sopsteps — a single reviewer this pilot year, documented on the rules page for transparency.
| Criterion | Weight | What we look for |
|---|---|---|
| Clarity & specificity | 25% | Could a new hire follow this without asking questions? |
| Completeness | 20% | Inputs, outputs, edge cases, who owns the work. |
| Repeatability | 20% | Same result every time, regardless of who runs it. |
| Measurement | 15% | Tied to a KPI or outcome, not just steps. |
| Reusability | 10% | Could another team in the same industry adapt it. |
| Format hygiene | 10% | Structured, scannable, length-appropriate. |
Bonus credit for KPIs
Optional fields on the form let you add the KPI this SOP affects, who owns it, and how often it runs. These improve your score and help judges see operational maturity.
